A Complete Toluna Review for Survey Lovers

Toluna Review

Over one in four Americans plan to adopt a side hustle this year. Most of us agree that the ideal side hustle is lucrative without draining us of energy–or boring us to tears.

That’s why, over the past decade, we’ve seen a rise in apps and websites that let users do things like play games for money or, in the case of websites like Toluna, take surveys for money.

These companies recognize that their users want a pleasant experience in addition to some extra cash.

In my Toluna Review, I’ll talk about how Toluna works, how you can earn money by taking Toluna surveys, and how Toluna users feel about using Toluna.

Read on to find out everything you need to know about Toluna.

How Does Toluna Work?

Toluna, as stated, is primarily a survey-taking website. Once you create your account, you can access it through your web browser or through to Toluna app.

Like other survey websites and apps, Toluna acts as a portal that allows users to access surveys created by hundreds (if not thousands) of other companies.

What that means is that you will often be directed to other websites during your Toluna user experience.

Users have the option of seeking out surveys to take or waiting for survey invites. Surveys range from long-form questionnaires to quick feedback on video advertising.

Users can also answer profile surveys through the Toluna website, and the more of these you complete, the easier it will be for Toluna to match you up with relevant and lucrative surveys.

Like most survey side hustles, not all surveys work out for all users. The participating marketers are looking for specific demographics and if you don’t meet those criteria, you won’t be able to complete those surveys for points.

This unfortunately can lead to temporary dry spells for Toluna users.

One interesting feature of Toluna is that it allows you to interact with other users in ways that most survey sites do not.

If you’re not sure how you feel about a product you’re reviewing, you can create polls and other interactive posts to get community feedback. You can also access a message board to participate in discussions and feel more connected to your side hustle coworkers.

How Can You Earn Money Using Toluna?

Toluna uses a points system, not unlike many of the other earning opportunities I’ve reviewed at Wealth Inflator.

The idea is that for all of your completed surveys (and even some of your interactions with the Toluna community), you earn points.

Different tasks will earn you a different number of points. Profile surveys create an opportunity to earn points fast in smaller amounts.

Longer surveys, accessed through the Survey Center or through your notifications, usually provide larger earning opportunities.

Toluna also offers regular cash sweepstakes that active users may enter whenever they want. These operate, of course, like a lottery system, but the cash bonuses are large enough to keep users coming back week after week.

Keep in mind, however, that you will need to remain active for at least three consecutive months in order to qualify for sweepstakes.

How Can You Redeem Money and Other Rewards Earned Through Toluna?

What do you do with all of those points? How can you redeem your cash and what other rewards are available through Toluna?

Options include:

  • Cash or checks which are fulfilled through PayPal, meaning that you will need an active PayPal account to receive money from Toluna
  • Gift cards from a vast variety of major retailers, including Macy’s and Amazon
  • Sweepstakes entries, such as the monthly drawing for $4500 or the sporadic drawing for an LED TV
  • Gifties, which operate as a sort of scratch card for tangible products; to redeem gifties, you exchange points for the chance to win a specific prize, which you may or may not win

The points-to-rewards conversion rate differs slightly depending on how you choose to redeem them. For example, if you want to redeem cash or an Amazon gift card, the conversion rate is 3000 points for $1.

Other gift cards may come with a better points-to-monetary-value ratio, but you’ll need at least 30,000 points to redeem them.

Toluna Review from Real Users

One thing everyone can agree on is that Toluna offers more interesting surveys and earning opportunities than most comparable sites.

They provide an extremely user-friendly interface and make the transition from their platform to third-party websites seamless.

Of course, the earning potential isn’t extremely high with Toluna. It’s the kind of side hustle we recommend if you’re just as interested in filling up your free time as you are making a little bit of extra cash.

Is There An App For Toluna?

Yes, there is an app available for Android users at Google Play, and also at The App Store for iOS users, so you can take surveys conveniently whilst you’re on the go.

Toluna Pros

Overall, the Toluna pros include:

  • a user-friendly interface
  • a unique opportunity to connect with the Toluna community
  • interesting surveys and earning opportunities
  • a wide variety of rewards and sweepstakes
  • nearly global availability

If you love the opportunity to take surveys for money, you will likely enjoy Toluna and find some of its survey questions refreshing and fun.

Toluna Cons

Toluna cons include:

  • limitations on sweepstakes entries, particularly for new or returning users who can’t enter until they’ve been active for at least three months
  • potential difficulty finding steady surveys to take

Ultimately, the drawbacks of using Toluna are not unique. If you’ve taken surveys for money before, you’re probably used to these minor issues.
