Enlighten Panel is a survey platform for South African residents, and is designed to provide surveys to its members in exchange for gift cards that can be used in popular stores in South Africa.
However, can you really earn rewards on this site? This is what I will be finding out as I look at what you need to know about the Enlighten Panel before you decide to check it out yourself.
To help me do this I will be uncovering what real users of the site are saying about it. I will also be weighing up the pros and cons so you can make a more informed decision about whether you should join.
First however let’s get started by finding out how things work
How The Enlighten Panel Works
The Enlighten Panel gives you the opportunity to share your opinions online via their market research surveys in exchange for points that the website says can be exchanged for gift vouchers, experiences or donations to charity.
This is a free site and you can sign up if you are a South African resident and you’re 15 or older.
The Enlighten Panel is run by a company called Insites Consulting. This is not a survey router and you’ll never be taken to a third-party site when you click on a survey link.
All of their surveys can be completed directly on the site. To complete surveys you can use either your PC or mobile phone.
As a member of the site you will receive invitations to participate in surveys every now and then. For each one, you’ll have to answer screening questions before you get to the survey.
If you pass that stage and complete the survey, your credit for it will be added to your balance. If you don’t qualify, you can do another survey that’s a good match for your demographic.
The surveys cover a range of topics, including consumer products, life and society. The gift cards make it easy to enjoy restaurant meals, movie tickets and retail shopping for free.
How To Earn With Enlighten Panel
You can earn with Enlighten Panel by doing surveys when they are available. You’ll be able to view the surveys that match your profile by logging in to your account and clicking on your member dashboard.
Two kinds of surveys are available in that section. These are the profile surveys and paid survey.
You’ll only earn on Enlighten Panel by taking the available paid surveys. You won’t usually earn anything by taking profile surveys.
Despite that, taking profile surveys indirectly leads to additional income since you’ll be sent more surveys based on the profile answers that you give.
When you first sign up, you’ll get a bonus of five points after you complete the initial survey that provides basic information about you to the platform.
Each paid survey will show how long you have before it expires. If a survey interests you, you’ll know whether you have enough time to do it or you won’t be able to attempt it in time. You’ll also know how much you could potentially earn from it.
This sum will be given as points, which will be added to your balance after every survey is completed. Every point is equal to 1 Rand.
Many surveys in the site can be completed within 10 minutes. The surveys pay according to their length and at most, you’ll spend 15 minutes on a survey. While shorter surveys usually pay 20 Rand, the longest will pay you up to 65 Rand.
How To Claim Your Enlighten Panel Rewards
The Enlighten Panel has a variety of electronic gift cards for you to choose from, including KFC gift cards and ShopRite vouchers. These will be sent to the email address that you provided. Unfortunately Enlighten Panel does not pay cash for surveys.
When you’ve accumulated 50 points or more, you can go to their gift card catalogue and click on the card that you want.
You can also use your points to make a charitable donation. For example, Reach For A Dream is one of the options that you’ll notice under the rewards section. You can click on it and give your points to that charity.
You can click on the gift card that you want to redeem on any date, as long as you have enough points. If you click on a card on the 10th of the month, it will not be processed until the 15th. The Enlighten Panel only processes those transactions on the 15th of each month.
Each gift card transaction takes 10 days to be processed, so you’ll be able to shop with yours around the 25th of the month if you clicked on it by the 15th.
Enlighten Panel Reviews From Real Users
The Enlighten Panel platform has been a very popular site amongst its members for a considerable time.
Members have reported having been paid, and if there happened to be any delays with payment the company would respond explaining the reason for the delays and paying in due course.
Since December 2020 however there has been considerably more negative reviews being posted about the site online.
Even long term members are complaining that from December 2020 they haven’t received a reward for the points they have redeemed, despite having received multiple rewards from them in the past.
It does appear that there has been some issues with the site since December 2020. Whether these issues persist remains to be seen.

Some Final Thoughts On Enlighten Panel
This survey site appears to have been a very popular rewards site, and perhaps still is amongst many of its members. Unfortunately recent negative feedback has been appearing online about payments.
This may of course be just a blip and things may improve, although the fact that the company doesn’t appear to be responding to customer complaints is a bit concerning.
