I will be uncovering what users of the app are saying about it and weighing up the pros and cons to help you decide whether the app is worth trying out.
First however let’s get started by taking a look at how things work with the Receipt Hog App.
How Does Receipt Hog Work?
The Receipt Hog App allows shoppers to sell their data to companies and the platform takes a commission. This handy app helps you to trade your purchase history for rewards. You’ll get sweepstakes entries, cash and chances to spin a wheel and win prizes.
You can download the app for free, and is available to both Android and iPhone users at Google Play or the App Store. It is only available however to residents of the United States and Canada.
Receipt Hog members use the app to upload receipts from a wide variety of stores, including gas stations and grocery stores. Receipts for their purchases at major international brands, corner shops and local businesses can all be uploaded.
Members earn in-app coins each time they upload a receipt and these coins can be exchanged later on, for tangible rewards such as cash.
The simple process of uploading receipts for rewards at Receipt Hog
A complete list of the categories and names of companies that are included in the program can be obtained from Receipt Hog. For example, off licenses, grocers and pharmacies are eligible. You’ll also earn coins for receipts from discount shops, beauty suppliers and your local cash and carry.
Receipt Hog is operated by Market Track LLC and InfoScout, two companies which merged to form Numerator.
The app is used for market research, so the data that you provide when you upload photos of your receipts, is used along with that of other consumers, to help guide the decisions that companies make about their products.
No matter how small a service may seem, the company that offers it needs data to ensure that it meets the needs of customers.
For example, your shopping receipt data can help companies to identify trends in purchases. Marketers can determine whether promotions affected sales of a particular product and to what extent. You’ll have to upload your receipts within 14 days of shopping, so businesses receive insights in real time.
The company does not only collect photos of printed receipts. You can also send in your e-receipts. In order to do that, you’ll need to connect an email address you’ve already used to collect at least one e-receipt, to your Receipt Hog account. You can do that as soon as you’ve opened a new Receipt Hog account.
You can’t upload every type of receipt to this app. If you went to a store and got a handwritten receipt, you won’t get coins for it.
You also should always try to only upload your own receipts. There’s a cap in place on the number of receipts you’re allowed to upload, so it’s best not to go over 20 within seven days.
There may be a shop that you shop at frequently on some days. For example, you may go to a particular cafe or gas station, if you travel extensively. You’re not permitted to upload more than three receipts from the same store in a day.
Your Receipt Hog membership is free, and you won’t have to pay them a fee to receive your prizes won or any cash earned.
How Much Can You Earn With Receipt Hog?
There are several ways to earn from Receipt Hog, depending on where you like to shop. For example, you’ll get free spins in the Hog Slots and have a chance to win a prize if you shop at stores like Curry’s and IKEA.
You could win coins every time you receive a free spin. The top prize is really good, since you could get your last shopping trip paid for in coins.
If you shop at a gas station and upload your receipt, you’ll get an entry in their sweepstakes. The draws give you a chance to win 5,000 coins. Many different types of stores will help you to qualify for sweepstakes tickets and you’ll get a ticket for each receipt. You’ll be entered in the sweepstakes automatically after each upload.
Bars and restaurants qualify for sweepstakes entries. You can also get a sweepstakes entry whenever you upload a receipt from your purchase at a cafe or bakery.
All qualifying receipts can help you to earn cash. However you may be told that some receipts are sweepstakes only and while these give you a chance to win cash, you won’t earn coins directly from them. You’ll earn a few cents every time you upload a receipt that has that type of reward attached.
The number of coins earned depends on the value of the receipt. If your receipt is worth $10, you’ll earn 5 coins. Receipts valued at over $10 and up to $50 could give you 10 coins and so on. When you’re ready to withdraw your earnings, you’ll receive at least $5 for every 1,000 coins.
Members who have been participating for a while are sometimes asked to do other paid tasks, such as bar code scans. You may even be asked to complete a survey that’s related to receipts that you’ve uploaded.

When you’re ready, you can withdraw your earnings via PayPal or choose gift vouchers from stores like Amazon. You can even request a Visa prepaid card.
The cash out rate is better for larger volumes of coins. While the minimum for pay out is 1,000 coins and that gives you $5, you can get $10 if you wait and exchange 1,800 coins. If you wait until you have 4,500 coins before you request your money, you’ll get $30.
To redeem your rewards, you’ll need to log in to your account. Tap Redeem Prizes and you’ll be taken to a page that has all of the prizes that are available. Click on the one that you like and you’ll receive it within seven working days.
