Get Traffic To Your Affiliate Website

Thanks for checking out our post today which is all about getting targeted traffic to your affiliate website.

Targeted traffic, or your targeted audience, are visitors that are interested in buying the products or service you are promoting. When you get visitors like this to your site, they are more likely to turn into paying customers, or conversions as they are commonly called.

Getting any kind traffic at all to your website, for a beginner, is a tough challenge. So getting the visitors you really want can present extra challenges.

Getting paid traffic is tempting in the beginning when you have little experience of how to get the right kind of visitors. However, when you’re starting out, money can be tight, and it’s not guaranteed you will achieve any success with this method, especially without experience. So it’s probably better to avoid potentially expensive mistakes, and work on some of the strategies in this post.

Here are what we consider to be the most effective ways of drawing visitors to your site who are more likely to convert into paying customers.

1. Regular good quality content being added to your website

It is often said that content is the king. This statement rings true when you are looking for ways to bring visitors to your site.

You will not have any visitors unless you offer information that the target audience is looking for. They will land on your page as part of their information seeking mission and do whatever action you would like them to do.

Search engines reward quality content with high ranking on relevant search engine results which results in higher visibility and more organic traffic to the website. Quality content is a combination of different factors as explained below.

When creating content, you must ensure that it is relevant to the needs for which you seek to fulfill. Relevant information touches base with the target audience and is evergreen. You need to know what your audience is looking for, and deliver content that meets their need head on.

Engaging content is the content that provides value to the lives of the audience that you target with your website.

This content attracts and holds a person’ attention by giving a clear reward such as solving the problems for the time people spend on the website. Also, when people spen more time on your site, Google notices that and this helps you rank higher.

Your content should be one which people would like to link to, tweet, share on their wall and invite others to read.

So I’m effect your audience becomes your ambassadors and spread your message to others,  and therefore increasing the number of visitors coming to the site.

Most of the search engines are using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of their search results.

The AI favors content that is straight to the point and directly answers the search questions. Google has started implementing a direct answer bar at the top of the search results. If your site provides such direct information, there is a high chance that you may end up being selected as the direct answer.

2. Good SEO

SEO includes a combination of tactics that improve the visibility of your site on the search engines.

Higher visibility often results to a higher ranking. This, in turn, results in higher traffic to the site. Some of the acceptable SEO techniques include the following

Responsive sites…

More than 60 percent of traffic to various sites comes from mobile phones. Google implemented the mobilegeddon’ algorithm update a while back to reward websites that were responsive.

The responsiveness of a website is one of the factors that will come into play in the ranking of websites. Take advantage of this update by ensuring that your website is mobile-friendly.

Format the content in a way that it is easy to read…

The readability of your page is considered by the search engines when ranking websites in SERP results. Use the following tactics to improve the readability

• Short paragraphs: Limit the length of the paragraphs to around three sentences

• Break your sentences to simple, short and easy-to-read sentences

• People scan content online in search for the relevant information. Make their scanning easier by giving them informative sub-headings.

• Bullet points instead of long prose content.

YouTube SEO…

YouTube is the second biggest search engine from Google with over 3 billion searches a month.

You can tap into the YouTube potential to bring in traffic into your site. Create short, high quality and highly engaging content for your target audience and link it to your site.

Ensure that the videos are not too short (about 35minutes) as longer videos do better on SEO search ranking.

Improve site speed…

Google has been using site speed as a ranking factor since 2010. It also has several page speed tools to enable sit developers improve the performance of their sites.

The speed of the site determined by the length of time the site takes to load. If a site takes too long to load, (over 5 seconds) there are chances that the visitors will abandon it. You can improve the site speed by:

• Compressing images

• Using browser caching

• Using content delivery network (delivering the site from the closest server to the visitor)

3. Social sharing

Social media has become a vital platform for engaging with the target audience, getting feedback and marketing the products and services.

Consider using social media as a platform to drive traffic to your website. Here are some of the proven ways to drive content on social sites:

Analyse your audience…

Try to find out what your audience needs, what interests them and platforms that they can be found.

Use this information to determine the social sites to establish a presence and the type of content to post there. Do not spread too thinly to different social sites as it takes lots of time to engage with all the audience on every platform.

Determine your social media goals…

You may have more than a single social media goal. You can drive traffic to your website while at the same time seeking to drive sales volumes and get feedback. Create tasks around each goal for which to achieve the goal.

Be consistent…

Keep in touch with your audience at all times. Create content that keeps them excited and talking about your website.

Consistency also helps create a wide fan base. Create a schedule for posting information on the social media and responding to your audience reactions.

Come up with success metrics…

There should be a way to determine if your social media strategy helps reach your goals. Review our performance from time to time and adjust where necessary.

  6. Thanks for your article, I was looking for ways to get more traffic as this has been a challenge for me since April 2020 with falling traffic. I knew mobile speed was an issue and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to improve this. But I’m using the rest of your article as a very useful checklist.
I’d agree with you that its better to start with free traffic and learn how to convert and monetise that traffic by helping your audience with what they are looking for – before going down the paid traffic route. As its a trap for the lure of easier traffic but can be costly and not convert for the inexperienced.
I am getting warnings in Google Search Console about mobile load times over 4.1 seconds so that shows to me that Google wants loads under 4 seconds. Otherwise this is good advice to create content that is best read on mobile and also highly shareable – these two factors will be my next focus and i’ve bookmarked your article to follow.

    1. Hi John,
I’m really pleased that you got something from this article that you can take away and improve your business. The Google algorithm updates can be frustrating and can have an impact on traffic. I had a similar experience in April/May and put this down to that. However I have found that sticking with these tried and tested strategies will mean that your site will recover from whatever is thrown at it. And yes site speed really matters and is therefore important that any site speed issues are resolved quickly. Thanks for your comment and best of luck with your online business.

  7. Hi,

Thanks for a very informative article. For me, it comes at a perfect time when I have finished setting up my website and creating quality content. I am now working hard on building traffic and getting convertions.

I wonder, how good are Visitors attracted through social media as long-term loyal Customers? To me it seems you get lots of Clicks to your links on the days you have been active on social media, and then, crash back to the ground! Why can’t those who have visited before, keep coming back when your content is engaging?

    Thanks and regards!

    1. Hi Teboho,

Great to hear you are applying these strategies with your affiliate website. A lot really depends upon how you approach social media marketing. There are members at Wealthy Affiliate have taken the time to master maybe one of the media platforms and made it work for them. Each social media site engages its audience in different ways. Whichever one you choose (and I do recommend you aim to specialise in one) you will need to commit to building your brand, and use that particular social media platform’s strengths to its fullest. Personally I prefer to focus on organic traffic and ensuring the traffic I get is highly targeted. Whichever area you choose to focus on the most, the more success you will achieve with it. Thanks for your comment.

It really is all about the quality of traffic that you get to your site that matters more than the amount. There are many sites that get huge amounts of traffic but make few conversions. It’s better to get fewer visitors but make more sales. Thanks again and good luck with your business.
