Poshmark Review: Can You Sell Fashion Items and Earn Cash Fast Using Your Smartphone?
Welcome to my review of an online selling platform called Poshmark
Today I will be taking a detailed look at how Poshmark works, how you get paid, and what the likely pros and cons are going to be should you decide to join.
What is Poshmark?
Poshmark is an online marketplace where fashion conscious individuals converge to buy and sell new and slightly used clothing, fashion items and related accessories.
Before introducing the web version, Poshmark was only available in the form of a mobile app. However, now you can now use the web version to buy or sell fashion items and beauty products on this platform.
The mobile app is available for both Android and Apple devices. Both sellers and buyers have to download and install the app on their smartphones if they prefer the app version.
Joining the Poshmark Community
Poshmark does not accept international members. You must be a U.S. resident to join this platform.
Creating an account is very easy. You may decide to use your email address, Facebook or Google account to sign up. The registration process only requires your name, username, and password. You also have to create a profile to allow other members to know more about you.
Selling on Poshmark
You can sell your items on Poshmark through the web platform or using the smartphone app. Most people prefer the Poshmark app because it is free to download, fast to upload items and convenient to use.
According to Poshmark, you may snap a photo and upload your sale post in less than 60 seconds using the app. Furthermore, you can set up your virtual boutique while on the go using the app.
Whether you are using the web version or app version, selling items on this platform follows three simple steps. These include:
1. Create a listing
Creating a listing is the first step to finding a customer on this platform. Amazingly, creating a listing is free, and you can post as many listings as possible. Nevertheless, stagger your posts accordingly to give each item reasonable visibility.
To create a good post, start by taking a nice photo of the fashion item that you are selling, and then upload it to your closet.
You may upload up to three more photos to help give a vivid description of the item. You may use fun filter available in the app to personalize your photos according to your personality and taste of fashion.
Give a clear picture of the item using elaborate descriptions and provide all relevant information such as the price and size. Honesty is crucial in this business. Therefore, you must indicate the exact condition of the item you are selling.
Remember to set a reasonable price to attract more customers.
2. Share your listing
Poshmark hosts virtual posh parties every day where you can promote your closet and interact with other stylists using your smartphone. Promote your closet by sharing your listing to posh parties, dressing rooms and your network of stylists.
You may also share your listing using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The more you share your listings, the higher your chances of realizing more sales.
However, remember not to spam your friends with sales messages. In addition, it is important that you contact other members before sharing your listing to their dressing rooms.
3. Seal the deal
Closing the deal is the final step to selling your items on this platform. Take advantage of the “make an offer” feature to negotiate attractive prices with potential customers.
Both buyers and sellers can make an offer. If the buyer makes an offer, you have 24 hours to accept, decline or counteroffer a new price.
Once accepted, the deal is binding and cannot be canceled. Only accidental purchases can be canceled within 3 hours of making the purchase.
The shipping cost is paid for by the buyer, but you may offer discounted shipping of up to $1.50 on the initial offer. This amount will be deducted from your selling price.
You will receive a prepaid USPS shipping label via email, once you seal a deal with a buyer.
The shipping label consists of the buyer’s mailing address, and you are required to ship out the item(s) within 2 days. You will only receive payment when items are delivered to the buyer.
Poshmark charges a flat commission of $2.95 on sales under $15. For sales over $15, Poshmark takes 20% in commissions. For instance, if you sell an item for $50, Poshmark will take $10 as commission.
You can only receive payment after the buyer has acknowledged receipt of the package. The buyer has three days to do so, failure of which the purchase will be confirmed automatically.
Poshmark will release funds to your account on the fourth day after the delivery date. You can withdraw your cash at anytime or spend your earning to make purchases within the app.
Poshmark accepts PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Android Pay and all major credit cards, including MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Visa.
You may withdraw your cash using any of the aforementioned payment processors. It is imperative that you link your payment processor account to your Poshmark account for security reasons.
Transactions done outside the platform are not protected, and Poshmark will not be liable for any disputes that may arise as a result
