Vinted Review: Make Money Selling Secondhand Outfits?

Vinted Review

Thanks for joining me today for my Vinted review.

Vinted is an online platform that is designed to help you make money by selling second hand outfits.

In my review I will be uncovering what real users are saying about this app, how the apps works, and what pros and cons you are likely to experience should you decide to join.

By the end of my Vinted review you will have a more informed opinion about whether this app can make money for you from things you no longer need.

Introduction To  Vinted

Vinted is an online platform that allows you to buy, sell or swap fashion outfits, used clothing, shoes and related accessories with prospective clients and like-minded individuals.

What this platform claims to offer you is a chance to declutter your wardrobe and make some extra cash out of fashion outfits that you no longer need.

Vinted was launched in Lithuania in 2008 by co-founders Milda Mitkute and Justas Janauskas. Since then, the company has experienced considerable growth, and it now has subsidiaries in Germany, the United States, and 7 other countries.

The platform has over 20 million members, with over 15,000 new members joining every day.

Joining Vinted

Registering with Vinted is free. You have the options to register using the mobile app version or on your desktop computer.

For mobile registrations, you must download and install the Vinted app on a compatible smartphone.

You can easily create a Vinted account using your Facebook ID or Google account. Vinted uses a secure two-way authentication system to verify the identity of every new member that joins the platform.

You must enter a phone number for SMS confirmation to complete the registration process. This security feature ensures that scammers are kept at bay.

How Vinted Works

Vinted is quite restrictive when it comes to items that you can sell on this platform. The only items allowed include:

• Women’s clothing
• Women’s bags
• Women’s beauty products
• Cosmetics
• Tech accessories
• Men’s clothing
• Children’s clothing
• All types of footwear

Selling items on Vinted is free. However, buyers have to part with a service fee of 5% of the order, plus a fixed processing fee of $0.70.

The whole process entails the following steps:

  • Listing Of Items

As mentioned earlier, listing of items is free. You can list as many items as you want without any restrictions. However, the quality of your listing will determine the number of customers that you attract to your post.

Your listing should be as descriptive as possible. Start by uploading high-quality photos or videos of the items that you are selling.

Follow this up by writing a short, but detailed description of the item, set a realistic price and choose appropriate shipping details before uploading your post.

You may list more than one item to increase your chances of selling faster. However, make sure that you stagger your posts appropriately to give each listing reasonable visibility. You may also share your listings on social media to attract more followers.

  • Building Your Profile

Building your profile at Vinted is essential  in creating a sense of trust between you and potential clients.

It allows others to know you better and helps you endear yourself strategically to prospective customers. Verifying your profile also indicates that you are ready to do business.

  • Wait For Buyers

You must be ready to respond to queries from customers. Being honest at all times will increase your chances of closing a deal. Take advantage of the “Make an Offer” button to offer potential buyers better prices during your sale interactions.

The sale will be marked as closed as soon as buyer hits the “Buy” button. You will receive notifications of every step that buyers make during the purchasing process.

  • Shipping

The shipping process is simple and straightforward. All you have to do is to download the shipping label, which can be found in your conversation with the buyer.

You do not have to pay for shipping since the buyer has already purchased the shipping label. Drop off the package at the nearest USPS centre and keep the receipt of the transaction.

You will receive payment in your Vinted wallet, once the buyer confirms receipt of the package. Note: Shipping must be completed within 5 days.

Information About Payments And Pay Outs

When a buyer makes a purchase, the payment will remain pending until the item is delivered to the client. The buyer has to confirm delivery by tapping the “Everything’s OK” button before you can receive your payment.

Nevertheless, you will still receive your payment 2 days after delivery in case the buyer does not tap that button.

Payment methods include:

PayPal

All buyers and sellers who prefer PayPal transactions must link their PayPal accounts to Vinted.

This ensures that all transactions are easy to track and it also helps to resolve disputes that might arise.

Credit/Debit Card

Vinted accepts all major credit cards and debit cards, including VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover, and JCB. All pay outs are free of charge, and the minimum amount that you can withdraw is $1.

You may request for payment through bank transfers or via PayPal. However, purchases made via credit card cannot be paid out to a PayPal account.

Is The Vinted Platform Safe?

Vinted is safe for both buyers and sellers. All you have to do to remain safe is to ensure that all transactions are within the platform. Transactions outside the platform are not protected by Vinted or by PayPal.

Vinted uses a tracking system to ensure that all shipments are delivered to the right address. Always keep a copy of your shipping receipt as proof of postage.

Vinted Reviews From Real Users

At the time of writing The Vinted platform has a score of  4.4/5 at Google Play, a score of 1.5/5 at TrustPilot, a score of 1.6/5 at Sitejabber and a score of 4/5 at Influenster.

Vinted has many satisfied users that are very happy with their experience using the platform. They think it is a great experience for both buyer and seller, and is very easy to use. Many users report being able to sell items of clothing that they no longer use. Some confirming that they use to use eBay but now prefer Vinted.

It is fair to say that some of the reviews left by Vinted users are very mixed. Those that have very positive feedback confirm that they have bought and sold items through the App without issues, and some for a number of years.

On the other hand some members report numerous problems from poor customer service, to poor protection for both buyers and sellers. Some raise issues with dishonest sellers and damaged items.

Of course it is much more likely that a user of an app like Vinted is going to leave a review when something has gone wrong rather than when a sale has been completed successfully. This needs to be borne in mind with customer reviews.

I would love to hear from any of my readers that are or have been a member of the Vinted platform. If you have experience with Vinted and want to share it please leave a comment in the comment section below.

Is Vinted Worth It?

Vinted is a place where you could make money out of fashion items that you no longer need. What might seem to be clutter in your wardrobe, is valuable in the eyes of another person.

I did find quite a number of negative reviews written by users about this platform, but you won’t find an online platform that hasn’t had some complaints.

It is worth noting also that this platform is one that should be used for second items taking up space in your wardrobe. It isn’t designed for hand crafted items.

Star Rating 3.5/5-A good platform for selling your second hand fashion items. There are some highly critical reviews online, however others report having had good experiences both buying and selling.

  3. I like this idea. it’s like bringing the old school vintage clothing shop into the technological age. I have a sister in law who loves this stuff and this would really open up a huge audience for her. It’s been around since 2008 so there’s a strong foundation there. Thank you for this. Bookmarking it asap 🙂
