What Is YouGov? Review

Posted by

You have probably come across several online paid survey sites.

What you may not know is whether they are legit.

Unfortunately, some of them might be fraudulent. The ones that are often claim you can earn a full time income from taking surveys, and they charge you a fee to sign up to their site.

YouGov is free to join however, and they don’t make any outlandish claims about unrealistic earnings. Taking surveys can be an enjoyable way to earn a little extra, but they won’t pay all your bills.

If it’s a full time income online you are looking for then you should take a look at THIS OPPORTUNITY instead.

• What is YouGov All About?

YouGov site is an online market research site founded in 2000 in the UK.

It deals with the collection of people’s opinions on different topics.

The company has its headquarters in the UK in addition to branches in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific.

This website is a little different to your usual survey site. The site examines the received data collected using various demographic parameters.

That is how their research methodology works. Once an opinion is collected, it is calculated as statistics. Then it is published on the company’s website.

Data collected from YouGov surveys is mostly used in public affairs groups, news media, political campaigns, institutions, and marketing agencies for analyzing and revealing public opinion.

Despite having unique features however, YouGov is not so different from other online survey sites.

For example, just like with other survey panels, you still have to invest some of your time in answering questions if you want to earn rewards.

• How YouGov Works

To create an account with YouGov you only need an email address and a password after which you are prompted to take a profile survey. You can also sign up via your Facebook account.

The first survey earns you 2000 points, and involves answering questions that will help YouGov understand your demographic better.

When you build up enough points you will be awarded a variety of gifts such as t-shirts, gift cards, and tote bags. Gift cards are available from several brands including Amazon, Visa, iTunes, BestBuy, and Wal-Mart.

The rewards are expensive. Some of the rewards will cost you as much as 35,000 points. When you consider that the surveys are in the region of 300-500 points, you aren’t going to redeem your points quickly.

YouGov however has refer-a-friend feature that allows you to invite people to sign up with the site.

If you refer a friend and he completes three to four surveys, you are awarded 4000 points and your friend earns 2,000 award points.

• Purpose for Data Collected Using YouGov Surveys

Data collected from YouGov surveys is mostly used in public affairs groups, news media, political campaigns, institutions, and marketing agencies for analysing.

  • What Are People Saying About YouGov?

There is quite a mixed feedback from the members of this site. Some are quite happy with the panel and have managed to cash out. Others say they have experienced problems getting their reward after it has been earned.

Unsurprisingly some complain about the length of time it takes to reach the cash out.

• Is YouGov A Good Small Earning Opportunity?

I think the number of points required is a bit too high, being so high means you are going to need patience and dedication if you want to reach the redemption amounts.

• Should You Sign up for YouGov?

The choice whether to sign up with YouGov entirely depends on you.

If you like having your opinions on pressing topics aired,  then YouGov might be the right platform for you, however if you want to maximise your earnings from survey sites then there are probably better options.

  • Mobile App

YouGov also has a free mobile app. You can download it from Google Play or from the App Store so you can take surveys whilst you’re on the go.

  • Free to join
  • Surveys are interesting
  • Surveys are also quite short

  • No PayPal
  • High redemption amounts
  • Low income earner
  • Final Thoughts

YouGov is worth joining if you want to build up your membership of a number of legit survey sites to boost your income. I wouldn’t rely on just this one however because there won’t be enough surveys to build up your points all that quickly.

If however you are more interested in giving your views on certain matters such as politics then this is the survey panel for you.

If you really want to maximise your potential earnings from survey sites then a great way to do this is by referring others.
